Types of cloud computing

There are five types of cloud computing: private clouds, public clouds, hybrid clouds, Community Clouds and multi-clouds. But the only types that are mentioned normally are private clouds, public clouds, hybrid clouds and There are also three main types of cloud computing services: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platforms-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

Types of Cloud Computing :

1. Public cloud: Public cloud services are provided by third-party companies and are made available to the general public over the internet. Examples include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. Public cloud services include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) provides virtualized computing resources such as servers, storage, and networking over the internet.
  • PaaS (Platform as a Service) provides a platform for developing, testing, and deploying applications over the internet.
  • SaaS (Software as a Service) provides software applications over the internet, typically accessed through a web browser.

2.Private cloud: Private cloud services are dedicated to a single organization and are typically managed by the organization or a third-party provider. They may be hosted on-premises or off-premises.

  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) provides virtualized computing resources such as servers, storage, and networking within the organization’s own data center.
  • PaaS (Platform as a Service) provides a platform for developing, testing, and deploying applications within the organization’s own data center.
  • SaaS (Software as a Service) provides software applications within the organization’s own data center, typically accessed through a web browser.

3. Hybrid cloud: Hybrid cloud is a combination of public and private cloud services, with some workloads running on a public cloud and others running on a private cloud. This allows organizations to take advantage of the scalability and cost benefits of public cloud services while maintaining control and security of sensitive data on a private cloud.

4. Community Cloud: Community cloud is a type of cloud computing where multiple organizations share a common infrastructure to support a specific community that has shared concerns such as mission, security, policy and compliance.

5. Multi-cloud: Multi-cloud is a cloud computing environment that uses multiple cloud services from different cloud providers, this can be a combination of any of the above-mentioned types of cloud computing. This approach allows organizations to use the best of different cloud services from multiple vendors.
